A Snuggle chair is generally something bigger than an armchair but smaller than a sofa. You'll also see them sold as Snuggler chairs or Love Seats. You get enough space for you to squeeze your feet next to you, without ending up lying down and dozing off.
Needless to say, they come in a range of materials and shapes including some that are modern and trendy and others which are rather more traditional.
The prices also vary significantly. It is generally true to say that you get what you pay for with a sofa, although of course there is an element of coughing up for a fancy brand name. We will attempt to point out why some snuggle chairs at the cheap end of the market cost £350, whilst others cost well over £1000.
Cheaper snuggle chairs are usually made from cheaper materials (for example rubberwood instead of solid wood), but many of them still get good reviews. At the higher end of the price range, you'll find Snuggle chairs made from a more solid wood. This will provide greater strength and resilience. Some come with a 15 year frame guarantee to prove the point that they are built to last.
For our guide we've included a range of prices including some cheap snuggle chairs. Without further waffle...here's our five best Snuggle chairs in the UK based on value for money, design, specification, customer reviews and awards.

1. John Lewis & Partners Barbican SNUGGLER - from £1149
There are 15 ranges of Snuggle seats at John Lewis. This is rather baffling at first, but you can soon narrow down your options.
We picked this mid-priced one for the range of customisable options available. The Barbican Snuggler Chair comes in 39 different fabrics and colours, as well as two colour choices for the chair legs. There is a high risk that you will spend several hours choosing between two shades before your spouse loses patience and tells you 'they look exactly the same'.
Some colours are available for the standard price. You will however, pay up to £300 more for some of the fabric/colour options if you want something more unusual using the 'design your own' service.

2. BEATRICE FOLKSTONE SNUGGLE CHAIR by Dunelm - £399
Dunelm's Snuggle chairs provide a designer look for a much lower price. You don't get as many choices as the John Lewis Charlotte Snuggler chair. In fact, you only have two colour options in this striped pattern (blue or mulberry). On the plus side, you can order a sample swatch of the material before you buy, so you can see if the chair will match your lovingly created home décor.
There are however, other options for this style of Snuggle chair from Dunelm. That includes a woven version, which is another stripey option which comes in 5 different colour choices. There is also a two tone woven stripe version available in two colours and a blue matt velvet option.
If you're willing to pay a bit more, then for an extra £30 you can choose a velvet buttoned Snuggle chair.
And what's the quality like, I hear you ask? Well, I'd say it's good for the price.
The filling of the seat is a mixture of foam and fibre and the legs are made from rubberwood. As mentioned above, rubberwood is a more affordable and eco-friendly wood, known for being easy to work with.
The reviews for the Beatrice Folkstone are very good, scoring 4.9/5. Many of the comments state how comfortable the chair is and how it looks very expensive for the price. There are a couple of reviews from people commenting that the chair does start off quite firm but becomes softer with time.
The frame is made from plywood which is certainly at the cheaper end of manufacturing methods but for this price, you would expect that.

3. DUSK HAMPSHIRE LOVESEAT - £499
Dusk is a relatively new furniture and home company. It's been going since 2018 and it based in the UK.
This Dusk Loveseat offers a lot for the price. There's no real difference between a love seat and a snuggler.
The chair back cushions are made from synthetic fibres to give it a squidgy feeling. They describe it as a down-like feel on the Dusk website. The seat is similar to the Habitat Jacob chair in that it has a pocket sprung foam filling, which means it won't collapse after a few years of use.
The Loveseat comes in a range of 8 different colours and you can buy two and three seater sofas to match. There's not a lot of information on the frame material, or the legs and I can't see any extended guarantee for the frame either.
However, the reviews are excellent. Over 900 customers rate the Loveseat 4.8/5 with many reviews saying how comfortable the chair is. Other customers comment on the ease at which you can put the chair together and the range of colours.
Unfortunately the covers of the seat aren't removable to go in a washing machine, so you'll need to enforce a strict 'no sticky fingers' rule - at least for the first week.
Overall, this is a good spec for the money, particularly when it's in the sale.

4. SWOON DENVER LOVESEAT AT JOHN LEWIS- from £1539
If you have a higher budget for your Loveseat or Snuggle chair, then I would look at this Swoon snuggler from John Lewis. As with the other John Lewis model, you get a whopping 15 year guarantee on the seat frame.
It's made from foam and fibre. The solid wood frame means you are getting a higher quality cuddle chair for your money. Another huge factor for those people with pets and children, is the cushion on this seat is removable and washable. This may well save you from scrubbing away with a wet wipe to remove sticky marks.
Reviews are in short supply, but this seat comes with a top-notch specification, which impresses a geek like me. The other sofas in the Swoon Denver range get positive reviews.
As mentioned above, the frame comes with a 15 year guarantee. Most top brands offer 10 or 15 year frame warranties, whilst cheap chairs usually come with one or two year warranties.
If you don't like the velvet style of the Denver model but like the quality, then Swoon do have a couple of other styles on the John Lewis website.
